Skating Lessons

South Metro Sports is pleased to once again host Learn to Skate Dayton. Skating lessons are available for all ages, and are offered throughout the year.

Learn to Skate Dayton is proud to have on staff some of the best coaches in the state of Ohio. All are members of the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA), and most are also members of the Professional Skaters Association and USA Hockey. Many have earned the highest level of achievement in their skating discipline or have experience skating in popular ice shows both domestically and overseas. Others have coached national-level skaters or were national-level competitors themselves. All of the coaching staff continually works on their advancement and knowledge in teaching the sport of figure skating and ice hockey.

This program is owned and operated by Denise and Bob Mackey who have 30 years of figure and hockey skating experience. Denise is a member of USA Hockey, the USFSA, and the PSA where she is accredited as a master rated coach and served as Hockey Chairperson for 3 years. She is a graduate of Miami University and skated on the nationally ranked Miami Synchronized Skating Team. Denise had the honor of skating in the opening and closing ceremonies during the 2002 Winter Olympic games in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Bob has played hockey for the past 25 years and has been coaching for the past 7. He is a member of USA Hockey, the PSA and the USFSA. For more information on Learn to Skate Dayton, call
